the hawks GMs have just been inept and reached for guys like childress and shelden williams. Childress just won't get the job done.Ĭhildress was never a top quality prospect. That team loves to save money and Smith's max contract extension (or close to) doesn't seem anywhere near as good in terms of bang for your buck than what Childress will like want in comparison to what he will give you. Earned his PT and the Hawks either need to give it to him or trade him. Debatably, better than his very stiff competition. Every time they give him a chance, he plays well. At some point Atlanta will have to recognize Childress' anticipated beef.
No one is going to freak out if Horford doesn't play big minutes. They can stash him on the bench (as they have done with other top quality prospects in similar situations like Childress and Marvin Williams).
